Documents required for Filipino parents traveling with Japanese children and accompanying real children

Since the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had a description about the required documents for Filipino parents traveling with their real children with Japanese people, I will introduce them.

Example of traveling abroad

  • ・If you wish to stay for a long time to support your biological child in Japan
  • ・If you wish to stay for a short period of time to prepare or preview your biological child in Japan in the future.
  • ・If you wish to stay for a short period of time to confirm the whereabouts of your child's biological father, acknowledge him, or consult with your Japanese spouse, etc.

Please note that this excludes those who have obtained a Certificate of Eligibility.

Documents pertaining to the applicant

  1. (1) Applicant's passport
  2. (2) Visa application form
  3. (3) 1 photo (4.5cm x 4.5cm)
  4. (4) Applicant's birth certificate
    *Please submit a certified copy of your birth certificate using security paper issued by NSO (National Statistics Office Headquarters of the Philippines).
    If the text is blurred and cannot be read, or the edges are cut off and the information cannot be confirmed, please submit the birth certificate issued by the municipal office together.
    In addition, if your birth registration was delayed, please also submit a ``baptism certificate'', ``school report card (elementary school or junior high/high school)'', and ``graduation album''.
  5. (5) Marriage certificate of applicant (if married)
    *Please submit a certified copy of your marriage certificate using security paper issued by NSO (National Statistics Office Headquarters of the Philippines).
  6. (6) Certificate of employment of applicant (if employed in the Philippines)
  7. (7) If the applicant has visited Japan in the past, a copy of the passport showing the immigration status at the time (if the applicant has an old passport).

Documents pertaining to real child with Japanese

  • (1) Child's birth certificate
    If you have registered your birth in the Philippines, please submit a certified copy of your birth certificate using security paper issued by NSO (National Statistics Office Headquarters of the Philippines).
    If the text is blurred and cannot be read, or the edges are cut off and the information cannot be verified, please submit the birth certificate issued by the municipal office together.
  • (2) A copy of the family register of the child's Japanese parents (if there is information about the applicant or the child)
  • (3) Child's Japanese passport (copy) (if possessed)
  • (4) Children's enrollment / diploma certificate (if you go to school in the Philippines / if you have)

Travel Expenses / Stay Costs Payment Ability Certificate Documents (In the case where you can not submit it, it can be a reason)

(1) If the person pays the entire amount
Income certificate of applicant issued by public institution or its dependents or deposit passbook and tax certificate
(2) If the guarantor provides payment or partial assistance
One of the following

  1. a. Income certificate or taxation certificate (issued by municipal office)
  2. b. Certificate of deposit balance
  3. c. Copy of final tax return
  4. d. Tax payment certificate (form 2 issued by the tax office)
(3) If the payment is paid by a support organization located in the Philippines
The following documents certifying the entity of the organization

  1. a. SEC (Philippine Stock Exchange) registration certificate
  2. b. DSWD (Philippine Department of Social Welfare) registration certificate

If you have a guarantor, invited person, or support organization

  1. (1) Letter of guarantee and/or letter of reason for invitation
  2. (2) Certificate of employment of the guarantor/invitee (in the case of an employed person, a certified copy of the register, etc. in the case of a self-employed person)
  3. (3) Guarantor of identity / If the inviting person is the relative of the child in Japan, documents to prove the relationship of relatives
  4. (4) Materials related to supporting (inviting) organizations (if applicable. If supported by NGOs, companies, etc., official documents related to registration/registration of the organization/company, materials showing business outline/achievements, Philippines) Materials explaining the relationship between the side organization and the Japanese side organization)
  5. (5) If the guarantor/invitee has traveled to the Philippines in the past, a copy of their passport showing the immigration status at the time (if they have an old passport).
  6. (6) If there is an intermediary who introduced the applicant to the guarantor, inviter, or support organization, documents showing the identity of the intermediary (copy of passport, copy of residence card, etc.)

When you wish to settle in Japan with your real child

  1. (1) Certificate of employment plans, company information, etc. (if you have been offered a job in Japan, clearly specifying the company's location, person in charge, and contact phone number)
    *Please note that if you are planning to work at an entertainment establishment (nightclub, pub, etc.), your visa may be withheld due to the high risk of being a victim of human trafficking. please.
  2. (2) admission permit etc (in the case where the school of enrolled student in Japan in question has been made), the location of the school, the person in charge and the contact telephone number are clearly stated)
  3. (3) Documents pertaining to accommodation destinations and places of residence in Japan (location, nominee, living person, etc.)

If there are documents that cannot be submitted even though they are applicable, please submit a written statement stating the reason.
In addition, the personal information you provide will be used only for visa examinations and will be managed appropriately in accordance with Japan's "Act on the Protection of Personal Information Held by Administrative Organs."
