What is National Health Insurance?

National Health Insuranceis one of Japan's social security systems, and is a system in which necessary medical expenses are paid from insurance premiums in the event that a National Health Insurance member becomes ill, injured, gives birth, or dies.

From July 24, 7, foreign residents will also be subject to the Basic Resident Register System.Foreigners staying in Japan for more than 3 months are required to enroll in National Health Insurance.

Specifically, the foreigners eligible for the Basic Resident Register system are as follows.
The basic idea is that foreigners who legally stay in Japan for more than three months, excluding short-term visitors such as tourists, and who have an address are eligible, and are divided into the following four categories: will be done.

● Transitional residents due to birth or transitional residents due to loss of nationality
Foreigners who come to reside in Japan due to birth or loss of Japanese nationality

To complete the procedure, bring your residence card or alien registration card to the National Health Insurance counter at the municipal office where you registered as a resident.Insurance cardWill be issued.
