What is National Health Insurance?

National Health Insuranceis one of Japan's social security systems, and is a system in which necessary medical expenses are paid from insurance premiums in the event that a National Health Insurance member becomes ill, injured, gives birth, or dies.

From July 24, 7, foreign residents will also be subject to the Basic Resident Register System.Foreigners staying in Japan for more than 3 months are required to enroll in National Health Insurance.

● Temporary asylum permit holder or temporary stay permit holder

According to the provisions of the Immigration Control Act, foreign nationals on board a ship, etc. may be refugees if they meet the requirements, and those who have been granted permission to land for temporary asylum (temporary asylum permit holders) or those who are illegally A person who has applied for refugee recognition and is temporarily permitted to stay in Japan when certain requirements are met (temporary residence permit holder)

● Transitional residents due to birth or transitional residents due to loss of nationality

Foreigners who come to reside in Japan due to birth or loss of Japanese nationality
